What format is the output?

Does this even out quiet and loud sections within the recording?
No. This tool raises or lowers the complete signal so its highest peak reaches the target level. It does not compress the difference between quiet and loud passages. A recording with one loud moment and long quiet stretches will still have that same gap after normalizing; only the overall level shifts.
Is this the same as loudness (LUFS) normalization?
No, this is peak normalization, which looks only at the single loudest sample in the file. Loudness normalization measures perceived volume across the whole recording and is a different calculation entirely.
Does this work with MP3 files?
Yes. Drop an MP3, WAV, M4A, or any other format your browser can decode — it's read with the browser's built-in audio decoder, then normalized and downloaded as a WAV regardless of what you uploaded.
What loudness level should I target for YouTube, Spotify, or a podcast?
Those platforms target loudness (LUFS), not peak level, so this peak normalizer can't hit those numbers directly.
