Why there's a 5-second cap

The output already doubles the frame count of whatever you drop in — forward, then the same frames again in reverse — so the source clip is capped tighter than the plain Reverse Video tool to keep the total processing time and memory usage reasonable. Boomerangs are a short-form format anyway; a 5-second source becomes a roughly 10-second loop.

FAQ

Is there a length limit?
Yes — the first 5 seconds of the source clip. The output plays that forward and then backward, so it ends up close to 10 seconds either way. Reversing means holding every frame in memory before re-encoding, and a longer full-resolution clip would risk crashing the browser tab, especially on a phone.
How is this different from just reversing the video?
Reverse Video plays the whole clip backward, once. This tool plays it forward, then plays the same clip backward right after, so it loops back to where it started — the effect Instagram popularized under the name "Boomerang."
What happens to the audio?
It's removed. The output is a silent MP4 — reversing audio in sync with the reversed half of the video is a separate, more involved problem this tool doesn't attempt.
What format is the output?
MP4 (H.264), regardless of the input format.
