Processed entirely in your browser. Never uploaded to a server.

Turn a PDF's text into a real, editable .docx file without uploading the document anywhere. This reads the PDF's existing text layer, rebuilds it as Word paragraphs with page breaks in the right places, and applies a heading style to lines whose font is noticeably larger than the rest of the page — useful for reports, letters, resumes, and other text-first documents you want to actually edit afterward, rather than just read.

What this does and doesn't preserve

Paragraph structure, page breaks, and basic heading emphasis carry over. Tables, multi-column layouts, images, and exact fonts/positions do not — this is a text reconstruction, not a layout clone. For a PDF that's mostly prose (letters, contracts, articles, resumes), the result is usually clean and ready to edit. For dense tables or magazine-style multi-column pages, expect to tidy up spacing and structure by hand afterward.

FAQ

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. The PDF is read and the .docx file is built entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to Kit-Bin or anywhere else.
Will the Word document look exactly like the PDF?
No, and this tool doesn't try to. It rebuilds the PDF's selectable text as editable paragraphs, keeps page breaks, and gives noticeably larger lines a heading style — but it does not reconstruct tables, multi-column layouts, images, or exact positioning. A PDF with a simple layout (a letter, a resume, a report body) converts cleanly; a PDF with tables or multiple columns will need manual cleanup afterward.
Why not full layout-accurate conversion, like some paid tools offer?
That requires a real page-layout engine reconstructing exact positioning, which is a fundamentally heavier problem — the kind of thing desktop Word or a server-side conversion service does. Kit-Bin only does work that can run entirely in your browser; this tool trades pixel-perfect layout for something genuinely useful and 100% private: real, editable text in a real .docx file.
Can this read scanned PDFs?
Not yet. Like PDF to Text, this reads the selectable text layer already inside a PDF. A scan is usually just a picture of a page, so there's no text to extract until it's run through OCR.
What file do I get?
A standard .docx file that opens in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice Writer, and Apple Pages.

Just need the raw text, not a formatted document? Try PDF to Text. Need images of each page instead? Try PDF to PNG.
