QR Code Scanner

Read a QR code from an image file. Decoded locally, nothing is sent anywhere.

Processed entirely in your browser. Never uploaded to a server.

Or drop an image containing a QR code here.

Drop an image containing a QR code — a screenshot, a photo of a poster, a saved code — and this tool reads it back into text or a link, entirely in your browser.

FAQ

Is the image uploaded to read the QR code?
No. The image is decoded in this browser tab — Kit-Bin never receives the file or whatever the code decodes to.
Why didn't it find a QR code in my image?
The code needs to be reasonably sharp, in-frame, and not too small relative to the photo. A blurry photo, an extreme angle, or a QR code that takes up only a tiny corner of a large image is the most common reason a real code doesn't get found.
Does this work with a screenshot?
Yes — a screenshot generally decodes better than a photo, since there's no blur, glare, or angle distortion to work around.
What if it decodes to a link?
The decoded text is shown as plain text, and if it starts with http:// or https:// it's also shown as a clickable link. It never opens automatically.
Does this decode WiFi, contact card, or other non-URL codes?
Yes. Any QR code decodes to its raw text, so a WiFi (WIFI:...) or contact card (MECARD/vCard) code shows up as that exact raw string in the output box, rather than being parsed into separate fields.
Does this work on a QR code with a logo in the middle?
It can, if the code itself was generated with enough error correction to cover the logo — that recovery comes from the QR format's own error correction, not from anything special this scanner does. A code generated with low error correction and a large logo may not decode.

See how error correction lets a damaged or partly-obscured code still scan in how QR codes actually work. Code not scanning at all? Read the troubleshooting guide. Decoded a raw string like WIFI: or MECARD:? See what those payload formats mean, and if the code stopped resolving over time, read static vs dynamic QR codes.
